My post about “The Grizzly vs.the Truck” was taken from a story told by John Friese to Donna Blasor-Bernhardt in an interview a few years ago. When I surround some of the words with quotation marks, I’m quoting the interviewee.
Tonight in a comment on that post, Donna Clayson said the following, “Love this site. Note though, the photo of the military truck and the story on the grizzly is a photo taken by my father, Doug Storing, when he was working for Okes Construction out of Dawson Creek during the building of the Alaska Highway.”
Blasor-Bernhardt interviewed a lot of men who worked on the highway, and she’s usually a trustworthy source. But if John Friese appropriated a story that happened to Doug Storing, there’s no way she could have known that.
At any rate, I sincerely apologize for the error. It’s a good story and your father was a brave man.
